About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Tanzania Journal of Development Studies is an interdisciplinary journal. It encourages research that seeks to transcend the conventional disciplinary boundaries in social science in order to capture broader and more nuanced perspectives of development problems. Inter-disciplinarity sits at the heart of the Journal, reflecting the recognition of the necessity to engage politics, political economy and history in order to advance an understanding of local realities within a global context and of the global from the vintage point of the local. More specifically, it focuses, among other issues, on topics that deal with the analysis of rural and agricultural transformation, industrialization, development strategies, gender and poverty issues, science and technology and the environment with respect to Tanzania and other African countries

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time. TJDS uses a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts initially undergo an in-house review to ensure conformity to the scope and policies of the Journal before they are sent for external refereeing by at least two scholars of proven competence in the particular field. Some manuscripts will be rejected outright. Others, depending on the outcome of the review process, authors will be required to undertake major or minor revisions as suggested by the reviewers. However, the Editors shall make the final decision regarding publication. The turnaround time for the review process is three months.

Publication Frequency

The journal is expected to be published bi-annually. Each issue will be published as a single volume and not as partial segments of the volume.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Note

Submissions are received on a continuous basis. Authors need not wait for a 'call for papers'.
